Welcome to Walking Week
As part of Welcome to Walking Week,
thirty people joined our walk from Netley Abbey along to Royal
Victoria Country Park. We stopped at the waterfowl lake to watch
the ducks, geese and moorhens before moving into the park. A path
through the woods led us to a rest area where many of us made
for the cafeteria for refreshments all round. We then followed
the inland path for a while before circling round past the Chapel
(all that is left of the Military Hospital building) down to the
edge of Southampton Water. Our plan to finish along the foreshore
had to be changed because the tide had not dropped enough to give
a clear beach. Back at the abbey balloons and ball point pens
were given to the children in recognition of their completing
the walk.
